The joys of being a Mom
Tonight a friend of mine sent me a picture of the cover of my son’s first book. My friend had pre ordered the book, and wanted to let me know they got it. I have to say it make me get teary eyed. As a Mom I love seeing my sons succeed. My youngest just became a Dad, and watching him don the mantle of fatherhood, was a joy I never thought I would experience.
And now my oldest is a published author - of course the book is non fiction, but he has been working on series of fiction. He wants to be the next George RR Martin. I have no doubt he will succeed in getting that published as well.
Seeing my kids grown, with families of their own, productive and stable…makes all those years of sacrifice worthwhile. However looking back, I can’t say it was a sacrifice, it was just life.
This year is rapidly closing down, and it started out rocky for me, where I had pretty much lost faith in everything. Then I changed my mindset - in times of darkness, never let anyone steal your light. That phrase saved me this year, and as this year winds down, I can see clearly that it has been an amazing year with many wonderful things that have happened within my entire family.
Within the darkness that has descended upon our world, having this family pull together in unity, has created a beacon of light which has chased back the darkness. I only hope that others can find a way to rekindle their light…the world needs it.
